Our story

In 2012, founder Laurent Morin, a native, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. His curious nature led him to seek health alternatives for managing blood sugar. From then on, it was the beginning of the adventure.

In 2013, the company started up in the Ag Biocentre incubator in Lévis, Quebec. They receive the support they need to better define their project and finance their research and product development projects.

The hiring of a scientific resource, Ms. Cécile Bertin Ph.D., has enabled the company to better define its future, its positioning and its scientific culture. From then on, literature reviews and patent anticipation were conducted. Wild blueberries were quickly identified as quality raw materials.

M.Morin, being from the Sept-Îles region, bought a 450-acre blueberry field in 2015, which obtained its Ecocert organic certification in 2019. Being on ancestral native lands, never having the imprint of Man and benefiting from a northern climate of the 50 th Canadian parallel, the blueberry, which is harvested there, has superior properties in antioxidant content. Due to the Nordicity, the bioactivity of this small fruit is superior to other regions of the world.

Research projects began in 2018 with INAF (Institute for Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods at Laval University in Quebec) as well as with the Universities of Montreal and Ottawa. This research led to the filing of 2 patents on innovative proprietary ingredients. The first related to the health of the microbiota as a probiotic and a second for the management of weight and blood sugar.

At the same time, the founder visited the biggest exhibitions on the planet in order to build his distribution network and collaborators as much here in North America, in Asia as in Europe.

2020 is significant for the company by the purchase of the plant (45,000 square feet), obtaining international certifications and the start of drying operations (freeze-drying, atomization and hot air), fermentation and d on a larger scale. The addition of other northern berries such as chokeberry, blueberries and cranberries paves the way for an expanded offer of health and beauty ingredients with the richest oxidizing properties of Canadian northernity and thus shine our products globally.
